What are tissue stimulators (biostimulators)? These are a substances that are injected beneath the skin surface to restore volume and improve the appearance of the skin. They work by stimulating your body’s own natural fibroblast (cells that create collagen and elastin) production.

Key Benefits:
  • Minimal down time
  • Quick treatment times
  • Minimal discomfort
Who is suitable for tissue stimulator injections? Biostimulator injections are designed for individuals who wish to restore volume in their face. They are a great alternative to dermal fillers. Areas that work well with these injections include temples, jowls and cheeks.
Main Contraindications:
  • Pregnancy and breast feeding
  • Skin diseases
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Active viral infection
  • Certain bleeding disorders
  • Allergy to applied products
  • Taking antibiotics
  • Tendency to keloids
Is there downtime? Due to biostimulators being an injectable, most patients experience some form of bruising, this varies from patient to patient and depends on the area being treated and method of application. Swelling directly after is evident also.

Is it painful? We apply a topical anesthetic cream prior to injecting to enhance comfort levels more so. When the numbing cream wears off after the procedure, patients may experience some mild discomfort – cold compress can help to alleviate this.
How many treatments are required? The recommended number of treatments depends on the area being treated, product used and condition of patient's skin. Usually a course of 3 treatments is required with 2 to 4 weeks apart.
How long will it last? Results of these injections can last a couple of months, sometimes year. It depends, in example, on patient's lifestyle. Patients that undergo a maintenance treatment usually get longer-lasting results. It is a tissue regenerating treatment, not a dermal filler, so the results are visible after several weeks, sometimes months, after administration of the product.
Prior to treatment:
  • Avoid the use of supplements that may thin the blood, including aspirin.
  • Prescription medications must be cleared by your GP before ceasing.
  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to procedure.

What happens dring treatment? Before we begin injecting, a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area for couple of minutes, as this improve comfort levels. Once the area is numb, we disinfect the skin. Throughout the procedure, you may experience some stinging sensations and tenderness – this is very normal and will subside.
What happens immediately after treatment? Directly after the injections, the area may be slightly swollen, red and some bruising may be evident. Once the numbing cream wears off, you may experience some tenderness – a cold compress can be used to reduce pain levels. After the injections, your aftercare will involve use of post-surgical cream to speed up regeneration. You must avoid other treatments on the face for 2 weeks post treatment.
Things to avoid after treatment:
  • Make-up (24 hours)
  • Excessive exercises (3 to 5 days)
  • Very cold/hot temperatures, sauna and swimming pools (2 weeks)
  • Sunbeds (2 weeks)
What are the potential risks? Like all medical procedures, there are risks involved. The most common side effect is swelling and bruising.

Profhilo is a completely new product that uses patented technologies engineered for ‘skin remodelling’. It is made from hyaluronic acid (HA) like many Dermal Fillers, however, rather than filling lines, it is designed to promote collagen and elastin growth to reduce skin laxity.

Thanks to the unique characteristics of Profhilo, improving skin laxity is easily obtained in only 2 sessions, with a 1 month interval and only 5 injection points on each side of the face. Profhilo is suitable for practically anyone, men and women, from 30 years old and with no upper age limit.

With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg/2ml), it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but also remodels the ageing & sagging tissue. As a stabilised product, Profhilo lasts in the skin around 28 days. During this time, the stimulation of 4 different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of HA.

The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore, we cannot say that Profhilo is a skin booster, as it also has a significant tightening/lifting effect on the tissue.

Profhilo is licensed as a Medical device and has a European CE Mark. The treatment is temporary, as the HA is completely broken down within the skin leaving no trace.

2 treatments every 4 weeks. No further treatments required for 12 to 16 months, dependant on lifestyle.
